This bilingual catalog (Spanish with English appendix) accompanies the exhibition Gabriele Münter, held at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza. Münter (1877–1962), co-founder of the Der Blaue Reiter group, is known for her vibrant, expressive style and groundbreaking role in early 20th-century modernism. The catalog traces her evolution from early amateur photography to major works from her travels with Kandinsky, her Blue Rider period, and her years of exile during World War I. It highlights her adaptability, bold experimentation, and resistance to the limitations placed on women artists of her era.
The exhibition is a joint production with the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, the Gabriele Münter and Johannes Eichner Foundation, and the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus und Kunstbau München, with support from Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne and Comunidad de Madrid.
