This extensively illustrated exhibition catalog offers a rare opportunity to explore eighteenth-century Venetian painting through works drawn exclusively from private collections, many of which were seldom accessible to the general public.

Bringing together 130 paintings, the exhibition recreated the imaginary collection of a wealthy Venetian patron, presenting a remarkable panorama of artistic life during the final century of the Venetian Republic. The selection encompasses celebrated views of Venice, luminous landscapes, mythological and historical scenes, religious paintings, and intimate depictions of everyday life.

Among the artists represented are Canaletto, Bernardo Bellotto, Michele Marieschi, Francesco Guardi, Marco and Sebastiano Ricci, Francesco Zuccarelli, Giambattista and Lorenzo Tiepolo, Pietro Longhi, and Jacopo Amigoni.
